ATC - Birds

Created for the TMTA Challenge where this week's theme is birds.

I used torn papers from my scrap box for the background.  One was a piece of Tim Holtz paper from the Vintage Shabby Stack; the other was a piece I had created using Dylusions colour wash sprays in Teal and Purple colours.

I tore up the papers, then used gel medium to glue them down.  I stamped over the background randomly using Manganese Blue Archival ink and a Prima Music Script stamp.  Then used deep purple with a Crafter's Workshop Stencil.  The little birds and branch are die cuts from Memory Box & Poppy Stamps (Grove Branch, Resting Birds, Nestled Bird).  They were cut in white card and coloured with Archival ink - branch in Manganese and the birds in Deep Purple.  The birds were also stamped with the music script in Manganese. I then added some Rock Candy crackle glaze to them, and rubbed a little "White Hot" paint into the cracks - it's an irridescent gold by Stewart Gill.  I also added some to highlight the background.
The text was cut out of an old book.

  4. Those birds are amazing with the stamping and crackling. Love their dark edges and hints of sparkle. The background papers are wonderful...love that teal and purple combination and the pattern you created. The torn edges add gorgeous texture.I am always in awe of the detail you include in each element. It makes the piece such a discovery process...like a treasure hunt.
